Book Review :40 days to a Joyful Motherhood

I was pretty excited to get a chance to review a devotion coloring book!  I know that the journalling in the Bible is the rage right now, but I do not love my journalling abilities.  SO having a coloring book style journal seemed perfect to me!

This is a great book to use during devotion time, each day there is a short scripture based devotion by Sarah Humphrey related to being a mom.  Then the following page is an area to color, sketch, and get creative in.

I used this book as an extra in my quiet time, as just a relaxing activity to meditate on the devotion Sarah wrote or on the other scripture I was working through that morning.  Taking the time to just sit and color was very calming and relaxing.  Many of the sketch/coloring areas were focused on a verse that was relevant to the devotion as well.  One thing that would be fun would be to cut out the pictures and hang them up where you would get to enjoy them after coloring them.

I did enjoy this book, I wish that the paper was a little thicker though to allow the option of painting as well as just coloring.  A great gift for someone in your life too!

NOTE : I received this book free of charge from LitFuse.

More about the book:

Nourishment for a mother’s soul through 40 days of devotion and . . . doodling!

Wouldn’t it be marvelous if mothering came with a concrete set of instructions—an easy recipe we could follow? Instead, motherhood challenges women to find their faith, their true selves, and their family through daily doses of trial and error. It is a brilliant and healing time of life that is full of joy, pain, and beauty with a small side of crisis (and humor). What mothers do not know, they learn. And through this lifelong process of learning, they nurture and care for the most precious gifts on earth: children. In a modern society where moms often have a full and busy plate, these 10 minute daily devotions focus on six key topics of motherhood:

—Self-acceptance
—Self-care
—Reconciling with grief, hope and expectations
—Generosity
—Presence
—Forgiveness

In addition to the devotions, these beautiful pages are adorned with handmade illustrations to help you refresh from long days or even occasional sleepless nights. So, grab your colors and a little quiet time for yourself while doodling at the kitchen table. You will be grateful you did!
