Review : Jesus Film

Our family recently had an opportunity to review the Jesus Film.  Have you seen it?  We really enjoyed it and are excited to share a chance to get your own copy!!  So after you read our thoughts, comment and I will pick a winner to send a code for your own digital copy!!

Before I get into the movie I just want to say, this movie is not about religion.  It is about a man, who came to make the ultimate sacrifice for you and for me.  Religions but God in a box, and they squabble about theological philosophies.  Jesus came to love us.  You and me.

{I asked my kids what they thought about the movie, since it is a family friendly movie, and I thought I share their answers}

What did you like about it?

First, I liked the beginning.  The movie starts with creation and then in the Garden and it shows that humankind chose to sin, and that it was the reason Jesus had to come. It starts out defining the prophecies.  The reason Jesus had to come was to fulfill the prophesies.

The story was not told in a linear fashion, instead it is focused on explaining why he is the son of God.  Instead of just telling what Jesus did, there was a good amount of time spent explaining how the prophesies were fulfilled, and validating that he was the Son of God.

The characters were true to the time period of Jesus and seemed believable.  The acting was spot on, it was not over the top.  It felt very natural.

Who was your favorite character?

(Eli & Jacob)John the Baptist and Peter.  Because I liked that their story was accurately told according to the Bible.

(Anna) Zaccheous – she enjoyed seeing that story played out.  She knew the story, but had not seen it in movie format.

I have to say that seeing more than just the life of Jesus in the movie is very good, it starts at the beginning and goes through many of the Bible stories we all know.  But there is something significant about seeing them played out that makes it seem even more real.

After thoughts:

After watching movies like the Jesus Film or others that take serious look at who Jesus was and his story, Jacob feels that it really makes him think about what Jesus did for us.  It makes it even more personal.  Daily Bible readings draw us into a closer intimacy with God, but when we can watch a movie that is so accurate and tells the story so clearly, you cannot help but grow closer to the God who gave everything for us.

One beautiful thing about this movie is that it can be shown anywhere, anytime to reach people who have not heard or do not know the whole story.
