Book Review : A Rumored Fortune

One of my favorite books of 2017 was by Joanna Davidson Politano : Lady Jayne Disappears.  The story was the first novel by Ms. Politano and I loved every facet of it!  The characters were spectacular and the story kept me wanting more, I could not put it down!

I was so impressed I sent a personal message to Ms. Politano and as a thank you she sent me a copy of her second novel!  So guess what?  I get to give away a copy of my favorite book of this year!!

I cannot articulate all the reasons I love her style of writing, her characters and her stories, but I do!  I just finished A Rumored Fortune and it was just as good as Lady Jayne Disappears.

This story takes place in Victorian England era, and it is about a young heiress who is left almost penniless when her father dies.  Penniless until she finds his fortune!  Tressa is the wonderful main character and you cannot help but fall head over heals in love with her!  She made my heart smile as I read her story!  There are a number of twists and turns as she tries to keep the staff of her castle happy, fends off treasure hunters and navigates the dangers ahead.

As a garden lover and plant lover in general, I loved that the back drop of the story is in a vineyard.  There is a small story line that delves into the vineyard world and I delighted in that as well.  It was fun reading about the intricacies of a vineyard and its management.

When Ms. Politano writes she takes you into a place that you can more than imagine as you dwell there with her characters.  The imagery, the conversations, everything feels like you are a fly on the wall in the midst of this marvelous tale!

I would define this as a romance, but that description is not even close to a fair assessment – it is a lovely tale about some amazing people – and how through it all they turn to the Lord, rely on his calling in their lives and ultimately trust Him with themselves.

I loved this story and cannot wait for Ms. Politano’s next brilliant piece!!

NOTE: I received a copy of A Rumored Fortune in exchange for an honest review, by Revell Publisher.

Now the giveaway : If you comment below with your name and email, I will pick a winner September 7th and send the winner a copy of this wonderful book!!  In your comment tell me your favorite memory outdoors!!

More about the A Rumored Fortune

Tressa Harlowe’s father did not trust banks, but neither did he trust his greedy extended family. He kept his vast fortune hidden somewhere on his estate in the south of England and died suddenly, without telling anyone where he had concealed it. Tressa and her ailing mother are left with a mansion and an immense vineyard and no money to run it. It doesn’t take long for a bevy of opportunists to flock to the estate under the guise of offering condolences. Tressa knows what they’re really up to. She’ll have to work with the rough and rusticated vineyard manager to keep the laborers content without pay and discover the key to finding her father’s fortune–before someone else finds it first.

Award-winning author Joanna Davidson Politano welcomes readers to Trevelyan Castle, home of the poorest heiress in Victorian England, for a treasure hunt they’ll not soon forget.

  1. Anytime that we are able to go camping as a family is a favorite outdoor memory of mine. I love that there are no outside distractions. We are able to enjoy nature, each other, and instill a love of the outdoors with our kids.
